Dear Help Group Friends & Families,
We’d like to extend a warm welcome as we gear up for another exciting school year at The Help Group. Our teachers and staff have been preparing all summer to provide an exceptional learning experience, while also focusing on enriching our campus facilities and expanding our program offerings.
From martial arts to theater and arts classes, we have added a number of after-school enrichment programs to our slate this fall that are open to the community. So, whether your child wants to improve their cooking skills or add more exercise to their daily routine, we have the perfect class for them.
We have included a blog post in this newsletter about the importance of attendance, aiming to ensure that all children start the school year on the right foot.
Lastly, you’ll find the first episode of a new video series called “Breaking Barriers.” This video highlights one of our alumni, Zach, and his success story since graduating from STEM3 Academy in 2019. “Breaking Barriers”: Celebrating Triumphs of the Neurodiverse Community
We are thrilled to announce our heartwarming new video series, “Breaking Barriers,” which will shine a light on the remarkable stories of young people of The Help Group, a non-profit organization that runs schools and programs for children and young adults with autism spectrum disorder, learning differences, ADHD, developmental delays, and emotional challenges.
In episode one of the new “Breaking Barriers” video series, Zach reflects on his time at The Help Group’s STEM³ Academy, and the special people who helped him along the way.

Kids Like Me is proud to offer a range of after school enrichment programs this Fall for neurodiverse children ages 6-17. Heart Stopper Watch Party
for LGBTQ+ Youth 12-17!
Friday, Aug 25 | 6 – 8 pm PT
Come join us for the first three episodes of the second season release of one of Netflix’s top rated queer teen shows, Heart Stopper! Enjoy some pizza and snacks on us while watching British teens Charlie and Nick figure out their place in school, forge unlikely friendships and navigate their first love.
Parents Like Me
Parent Support Group
Wed., Sept 6 | 6-7pm
Parents Like Me Parent Support Groups are for parents and caregivers of neurodivergent kids and teens 17 years of age or younger. These are free online sessions that provide a safe space for parents and caregivers to share, connect, and provide support for one another.
ALA Parent-to-Parent Support Group
Thurs., Sept 7 & 21 | 6-7pm
Free online sessions for parents of young adults 18+ to connect, share stories & learn from one another. Parents select topics and group leaders facilitate discussions and offer guidance. Meetings take place the first and third Thursday of each month.
A Family Afternoon of Board Games
Sat., Sept 23 | 1-3 pm
Enjoy an afternoon of board games and snacks with The Help Group’s Kids Like Me program in Sherman Oaks. You’ll meet, compete, or cooperate with other neurodivergent children and families, and have fun in the process! Suitable for families with children ages 6 and up!
