The Help Group’s Kids Like Me is pleased to offer New Buds: Blossoming Friendships, a conversation friendship skills group for neurodivergent children ages 4-6 years old. The group is designed to facilitate social skills development in a structured, fun, and supportive environment. Led by highly trained professionals, this group will enable children to gain competencies related to peer interaction while fostering meaningful friendships. The group follows a 12-week (3 months) curriculum that teaches a variety of skills (included below) and 2 sessions will be devoted to parent training to maximize generalization of skills.
90-minute weekly sessions are designed to teach:
- Emotional regulation & development
- Non-verbal communication
- Conversation skills
- Theory of mind
- Frustration tolerance
- Friendship making
Children will need to be interviewed to determine if the program is a match for them. Children should have conversational (non-echoed) skills and be able to attend to group lessons with minimal support.
Cost: $250 for 12 weeks (Payment plan available upon request)
When: Wednesdays from 3:00-4:30 pm First session will start in January 2023
