Dear Friends,
As the year draws to a close and the spirit of the holiday season fills us with warmth and reflection, I find myself thinking about the incredible journey we’ve shared at The Help Group. It’s a time for gratitude, connection, and celebrating the unwavering hope that binds our community together.
This past year has been one of tremendous growth and transformation, both for The Help Group and for me personally, as I completed my first year as CEO. I’m incredibly grateful for the steadfast dedication of our staff, our committed Board, and our passionate supporters who made it all possible. Recently, I had the chance to sit down with The Help Group team and reflect on this year. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate everything we’ve accomplished together. You can find the full article about this reflection below.
Each success, each milestone reached, is a testament to the collective spirit that drives us to empower individuals of all ages with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning differences, as well as those with mental health challenges.
I am thankful for the opportunity to witness the incredible resilience of those we serve, the enduring love of their families, and the tireless efforts of everyone at The Help Group. Together, we are creating a world where everyone can thrive.
This holiday season, as we gather with loved ones and reflect on the year gone by, let us remember the true meaning of giving. Your generosity allows us to continue providing vital services and creating lasting change in the lives of children, teens, adults, and families who seek our assistance. Every act of kindness, every contribution, no matter the size, illuminates the path to a brighter future for all. To learn more about how you can help support our mission this holiday season, please visit our website.
As we look towards 2025, I am filled with a sense of anticipation and excitement. We have so much to celebrate and so many dreams to realize. Together, we will continue to build a legacy of compassion, inclusion, and hope, creating a world where every individual can shine their brightest light.
From the bottom of my heart, I wish you and your loved ones a holiday season filled with joy, peace, and the magic of possibility.
May the New Year bring health, happiness, and renewed hope for a brighter tomorrow.
With deepest gratitude,
|

The Help Group’s 28th Annual Summit:
A Celebration of “Imagining Possibilities”
|
|
The Help Group’s 28th Annual Summit: Imagining Possibilities took place on November 15, 2024, bringing together a dynamic community committed to advancing innovative practices for supporting neurodiverse populations, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning differences as well as those with mental health challenges. Hosted at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, this year’s Summit offered a unique blend of learning, connection, and inspiration designed to empower individuals across the lifespan. Sponsors for this year’s event included, Los Angeles County Supervisor of the 3rd District, Lindsey Horvath and Media Sponsor, LA Parent.
The Summit featured a lineup of esteemed thought leaders, researchers, and clinicians who shared their expertise on topics that directly impact the neurodiverse community. A highlight was the keynote address by Dr. Daniel Siegel, who presented on “Yes Brain: How to Cultivate Courage, Curiosity, and Resilience in Neurodivergent Youth and Young Adults.” In this engaging session, Dr. Siegel explored the foundational elements of well-being—emotional spark, social engagement, novelty-seeking, and creative exploration—shedding light on how these elements can empower neurodiverse individuals throughout their developmental journey. Dr. Siegel also participated in an interactive book signing, where he connected personally with attendees and discussed his ideas in greater depth.

Grand Opening of Our New Pickleball Courts:
A Vision for Inclusive Athletics
|
|
|
|
The Help Group is thrilled to announce the completion of our new pickleball courts at our Sherman Oaks Campus! This exciting addition marks a significant step forward in our mission to provide dynamic and inclusive athletic programs tailored to the needs of our students. Pickleball, a fast-growing sport beloved for its accessibility and adaptability, offers a unique blend of physical activity, social interaction, and mental stimulation, making it an ideal fit for students with learning differences and mental health challenges. Whether it’s building hand-eye coordination, improving motor skills, or simply enjoying the camaraderie of a shared game, pickleball creates opportunities for growth and connection in a supportive environment.
As part of The Help Group’s ongoing dedication to fostering new and innovative programs, these courts represent the foundation of a broader initiative planned for 2025. Our goal is to expand access to diverse sports and recreational activities designed to empower neurodiverse individuals and those with mental health challenges. By emphasizing inclusivity and adaptability, we aim to break down barriers and create an environment where all students can thrive both on and off the court.
The introduction of pickleball is just the beginning of this vision, as we continue to champion programs that enhance physical health, boost self-confidence, and nurture a sense of belonging for every student.

Serving Up Hope:
Thanksgiving Food Pantry Brings Holiday Relief
|
|
The Help Group’s Project SAFE and Prevention & Aftercare in Sherman Oaks recently organized a heartfelt Thanksgiving Food Pantry event for their valued clients. The initiative aimed to support families not only in creating a memorable holiday meal but also in providing essential supplies to sustain them beyond the celebration. Families left with generously filled boxes of non-perishable items, including pantry staples and holiday essentials.
The impact was palpable as we witnessed families overwhelmed with emotion—some shedding tears of gratitude for the much-needed assistance during what can be an especially stressful and challenging time of year.
For many, the event represented more than just receiving food; it was a moment of relief, hope, and community care. This event was a testament to the power of compassion and collaboration, bringing smiles and reassurance to those facing uncertainty. It served as a meaningful way to kickoff the holiday season, reminding all of us of the importance of coming together to support one another during the festive season and beyond.

Earlier this month, The Help Group was delighted to welcome the leadership team from Zenith, a long-time supporter of The Help Group, and representatives from their parent company, Fairfax, to our campus.
The visit began with a welcome from our vocational students, who proudly demonstrated their culinary and serving skills at a gourmet popcorn station. The representatives then enjoyed a performance by The Help Group’s student choir, a moving display of talent and determination.
At Silver Linings, our social enterprise resale boutique and vocational training center, the Zenith and Fairfax team saw firsthand how individuals are developing valuable job skills, gaining confidence, and working towards independence.
The tour concluded with stops at one of our elementary school classrooms and our new woodshop, where students were engaged in hands-on learning. This inspiring visit underscored the transformative power of collaboration and community partnerships. The Help Group deeply values the ongoing support of Zenith and Fairfax in our shared mission to empower individuals to reach their fullest potential.
