Celebrating the Spirit of Acceptance: The Help Group Hosts 11th Annual Special Needs Resource Fair
On Sunday, April 28th 2024, The Help Group partnered with LA Parent Magazine to host its 11th Annual Special Needs Resource Fair. The event offered individuals and families the chance to connect with resources available to the special needs community, including those with autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, ADHD, developmental delays, and emotional challenges.
Over the past decade, the Resource Fair has become a vital platform, bringing together a wide range of resources and expertise tailored to serve the special needs community. This year, the fair attracted over 1000 attendees and featured 75 exhibitors at The Help Group in Sherman Oaks. From dynamic workshops and interactive demonstrations to informative resources and innovative services showcased at exhibitor booths, every element of the Resource Fair was thoughtfully designed to address the diverse needs of its participants.
At the event, The Help Group proudly showcased its nine nonpublic special education day schools and various programs, all founded on the principle that dignity, hope, opportunity, and love are the birthrights of all individuals. With locations in Culver City, Sherman Oaks, Valley Glen, Van Nuys, and Inglewood, these campuses empower individuals facing diverse challenges to achieve their fullest potential.
Additionally, representatives spanning from schools, camps, medical and therapeutic services, to financial and estate planning firms, advocacy groups, recreational and vocational programs, as well as residential services came together to offer their expertise and resources. The event also featured an informative speaker series covering crucial topics such as early diagnosis, self-determination, and estate planning, fostering an environment where participants could seek answers, gain clarity, and feel a strong sense of community. In addition to the wide range of resources offered at the fair, families were treated to a variety of family-friendly activities, including a petting zoo, crafting station, face painting, communal art project, bubble fun, and much more.
The fair provided much-needed support for the special needs community by fostering understanding, celebrating diversity, and providing essential resources to the communities where they are needed the most.
